It's always there, one way or another, but sometimes it gets loud enough that it's impossible to ignore.

TW: Suicidal Ideation (not graphic) )

It's been a complicated couple of weeks.

Mostly, he's been working and sleeping and running and trying his damndest not to think. He's been drinking a little more than he would usually and he's bought cigarettes and, when he's smoked them all, he's bought more. He's pissed off with himself about that -- it had been a bitch to mostly kick the habit, when he'd done it back in Pittsburgh. He's spent time with Nikita and that has helped, honestly; it's refreshingly uncomplicated, what they've got going on. He's picked up extra shifts. He's avoided Jack as much as he can

And it's been two weeks since that day up at Kagua and nothing is any clearer than it was before.
Which tracks.

It's a bright, clear day, fucking freezing and, instead of a roof, he finds himself on the beach, down on the sand. He wishes it was warm enough to surf but, even in a wetsuit, that water is far too cold. He ends up just sitting, huddled in his coat, staring out at the water with a cigarette smoldering between two fingers.

If he waits long enough, maybe everything will start to make sense.

ooc: Dr. Abbot isn't the only one with an ongoing existential crisis. Find Robby on the beach any time it suits your pup or, if it works better, on his way back towards his apartment near the hospital.

GATHERING: 'tis the season

Though December 1st is a work- and school day for most, that does nothing to stop the party that heralds the opening of Darrow's finest (only) ski lodge.

From morning to night, the gathering goes on, an informal party marked by a variety of welcoming options from Kagura's staff. With reservations and rooms open, snow on the slopes for those who wished to ski, and a pond for those more inclined to skate, Kagura welcomes Darrow's residents to enjoy the beginning of the festive season. The fireplaces in the foyer burn bright, bedecked with boughs of holly, and the cheerful staff happily provide assistance and hot beverage to any and all.

It's an opening not unlike any other for Kagura. With that comes the promise of their mysterious and most persistent guest, the mistletoe which no member of the staff seems to recall having hung up. Neither do any of them have any explanation but a shrug and a light apology for any inconvenience when asked how it moves. Yet with or without explanation — and with no help from the staff for those trapped — the mistletoe springs up here and there throughout the lodge, sprigs of the plant snaring unsuspecting guests within their perimeter to await a kiss. But then, that, like so much else about Kagura, is purely tradition, and what is a danger to some is an enticement for others. If nothing else, it's hard to resist the call of novelty.

[ Happy holidays from the Kagura staff! The hotel is officially open for the season. ]
